Olhão Market – A Coastal Treasure of Algarve 

Set along the scenic waterfront of Olhão, the town’s iconic market is one of the most famous in southern Portugal. Housed in two striking red-brick buildings designed in the early 20th century, the Olhão Market is a vibrant hub of local life and maritime tradition. 

Renowned for its impressive fish market, it offers the freshest catch from the Ria Formosa and Atlantic Ocean — from octopus and sardines to tuna and shellfish. The market also features colorful stalls with regional fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, cheeses, cured meats, and local sweets. 

On Saturdays, the area outside the market fills with additional vendors selling flowers, crafts, and homegrown produce from nearby villages, creating a festive and authentic Algarvean atmosphere.
