Metropol Parasol – The “Mushrooms” of Seville
The Metropol Parasol, popularly known as “Las Setas” (The Mushrooms), is a bold and modern architectural landmark located in La Encarnación Square in the heart of Seville. Completed in 2011, it was designed by German architect Jürgen Mayer and is considered one of the largest wooden structures in the world.
Its massive, mushroom-like design stretches over 150 meters and rises to 28 meters in height, creating a striking contrast with Seville’s historic architecture. The structure includes several levels: an archaeological museum in the basement, a market, a plaza for public events, and a panoramic walkway and viewing platform at the top offering 360º views of the city.
Las Setas has quickly become a popular meeting point and a symbol of contemporary Seville, blending urban innovation with cultural life.
